WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CHRISTIAN?

When a person states that they are a Christian, it seems to cause some embarrassment when they are asked to explain what they mean by their statement. In other words "what it means to be a Christian".

The Collins English dictionary definition of "Christian" states: "A person who believes in, and follows Jesus Christ." The K.J.V. Bible seems to be the most accurate and consistent record of the doctrines of Jesus Christ. Both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible present the principles of Christianity, which may be found recorded in Exodus chapter 20: verses 3 to 17, and also scattered through the various New Testament books as well. These principles are also known as the Ten Commandments. They are a compulsory code for all people to follow, who wish to live a Christian life. They are also known as The Law of God. Our Creator who made mankind, logically would be the best One to compose a set of rules, that if kept, would guarantee the safety, happiness and well-being of every created being. This Law has never needed updating or addition. It was "perfect" and recognized by the New Testament writers as being necessary for salvation. There has never been any country in the world who have been able to produce such a comprehensive and yet precise set of rules to govern their people to take the place of these Commandments. Most countries have thousands of laws which are continually changing and they still can not control chaos. Some might ask why this is so. A simple answer to this question would be that the ones who make these laws are fallen human beings who will not make laws that might inhibit some of the things that they want to do. By-laws to deal with intricacies no doubt are necessary, but they need to be in harmony with the Basic Law of God. Throw out or attempt to change this Law, and the result will be chaos. Some young people might find this hard to understand, but they should ask those of mature age who have been around for many years who have witnessed these results.
